What is Psychiatry?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialise in understanding the complex interplay of genetic, psychological, and social factors that contribute to mental health. They employ a combination of medical, therapeutic, and counselling approaches to help individuals manage and overcome a variety of mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and more. Our psychiatry services focus on a holistic approach to mental well-being, aiming to improve the overall quality of life for individuals by addressing both the symptoms and underlying causes of their mental health challenges.

Psychiatry assessments

A psychiatric assessment is a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a psychiatrist to understand your mental health, emotional well-being, and overall psychological functioning. During this process, the psychiatrist gathers information about your medical history, current symptoms, personal and social circumstances, and any relevant family history. The assessment may involve clinical interviews, standardised questionnaires, and, in some cases, collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The goal is to form a thorough understanding of your mental health challenges, determine a diagnosis if applicable, and develop a personalised treatment plan.
